How did I get here?!? I have always loved baths...I used to study in the tub, big huge text books...and then it progressed to sketching for my architecture projects...and then out of necessity (I was just too tired to stand!) But my baths were boring due to my mother preaching the evils of Mr Bubble and his plan to give everyone a kidney infection! I still have to avoid him in the grocery store...but don't worry, everthing changed and my baths are now right out of a spa!!!

You see, my college roommate was a cronic hobbiest. beadding, sign language, aromatherapy. We haven't kept in touch, but I still wear the jewlery, know the alphabet, and when she lost interest I took all of the aromatherapy books to feed my growing obsession! I also got my mom addicted...one day I came home and there were blocks covered in towels all over the coffee table. We made a couple more batches that week, and a month later we took toll of the situation. 60 bars for 4 people is quite a lot...so we gave it as gifts for about a year...while still making more! One day it was obvious, we just didn't know enough people and this stuff was invading our space. So, Beyond the Picket Fence was born!! That was about 12 years ago. We have gone through a lot of trial and error, experimentation, target markets, ethical issues, and a whole lot of books, articles, classes, etc. leading to a confidence and pride that is more than I could have imagined.

We have settled comfortably into our little niche....We make natural bath and body products. We use therapeutic grade essential oils for all of our scents and we only use as close to natural preservatives when necessary. We do not use alcohol, any kind of fillers, synthetic fragrance, parabens, sulfates, or any of the other stuff that you can't pronounce!

Most of our soaps have a purpose, wether it be physical or psycological. We have garden soaps with grit to get that deep down dirt, and tee tree to soothe those nicks from your roses....and shaving soaps with added clay to aid in the slipage of your blade! We also have our Working Woman's line which helps bring you back to your center with its soothing scent and Rosemary Mint who's uplifiting vibrant scent gives you that much needed burst to get you going in the morning. Due to the all naturalness of our products, some have a shelf life. Anything that has an expiration date is clearly marked. We strive to create products with a purpose…so read the descriptions! And most importantly USE THEM!

Everything is made in my studio with the help of my closest friends and family. All of our soaps are made in small batches using the cold process method, and then allowed to cure for 4-5 weeks before being tested and then released to the public.
