About

Brianna Moon, a Rhode Island based designer recently just graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a BA in Art Studio and a BS in Textiles, Merchandise and Design. Brianna's heart was always in fashion and design. Getting her start she studied day and runway makeup working for MAC Cosmetics and other brands. She spent her Spring semester in 2009 interning in design at CK Bradley in Newport, Rhode Island where she learned about patterns, color, assisted with the Spring 2010 collection designs, and managing a small boutique business as well as the role of a vender. During this time she created a 4 look collection based on the works of Andy Warhol and his muse Edie which dealt with color, contrast, textures and abstraction. She then moved to New York City in June of 2009 for four months and interned in accessories at Harpers Bazaar Magazine. During this time she was overwhelming inspired by the history, ambience and fast paced life style that New Yorkers live. From her experiences at Bazaar and vintage shop endeavors, she became obsessed with french fashion. This started it all. This obsession ran deeper and what better way to study french fashion than to start with the creator, the original dressmaker, Rose Bertin for Marie Antoinette. From there she spent countless hours drawing, in fabric stores searching for the perfect lace and creating. Her end result was a 10 look collection of handmade corsets, fur shrugs, handmade jewelry, bags and headpieces and hand embellished shoes. This was called "Let Them Eat Cake". After countless hours of sewing and hand beading the collection was showcased two times at the University of Rhode Island, earning "Audience Favorite". After this Brianna spent some time in Lyon, France studying designers like YSL and Chanel, learning how Hermes scarves were made and observing this process and meeting and learning about the business and creation side of many Lyon based designers. From her experiences in Lyon she became even more obsessed with vintage fashion due to the small artist community that caters to vintage apparel and Lyon based designers. Since she has returned she has deeply studied the history of clothing from the 1920's till now, always creatively inspired and excited to create more.

UPDATE: Currently Brianna is creating her next collection for Style Week Providence after a recent show in May in Providence. August 31st, Wednesday at Providence Performing Arts.
