About

Welcome to Compass Rose Design Jewelry - antique button jewelry, bridal steampunk jewelry, and other handmade treasures crafted with found and storied objects. I have been making stained glass and jewelry for the last fifteen years with vintage and found treasures.

We are a wife and husband team operation based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Everything in our shop is handmade in our home studio, just north of San Francisco, California, and reflects a bit of treasure renewed into something unique and beautiful. My husband joined the company, helping with photography and soldering in 2011 to help keep up.

His love of railroad history and trains has been a delightful addition to my interest in mechanical gadgets and Victorian everything.

My tendency both for collecting as well as reassembling has been a lifelong project. I took apart my first stereo at age 7 and disassembled my first broken pocket watch at 9. In both cases, my goal was to repair the items, but upon realizing the parts were so beautiful, I began constructing art. A tendency that has become my life work. Who knew steampunk would mainstream? My collection includes steampunk watch jewelry - a delightful collision of industrial and delicate, as well as the soft elegance of Victorian buttons and cameos, plus whatever memoried objects call out along the way.

After almost a decade of work in non-profits (organic farming and community organizations) and then some marketing work in Amsterdam (really an excuse to be near the flea markets in Amsterdam and Paris!), I've taken the plunge to become a full time crafter maker metal alchemist artist. I love every aspect from making and soldering - to meeting folks at local art shows - designing my website - photography - A-Z. Thank you for your support.
