About

Hi, my name is Beth Alexander.

In my life, I have been the guardian of an astonishing variety of animals, all manner of mammals, birds, reptiles, and rodents, who continue to be my muses.

My father, both a coach and an art teacher, gave me access to plenty of artist mediums at a very early age. I was also greatly inspired by my Great Grandmother who didn't begin painting until she was almost 60 years old.

I studied Art at the University of North Texas, Denton and have lived in locales as varied as Austin, Texas to Egypt. While living in Cairo, I was deeply inspired by the patterns and color palettes of the Mid East.

I have become increasingly sensitive to most chemicals over the years so I've had to reduce the types of media I work with. As a result I began painting digitally with a wacom tablet and stylus. The program, "Painter" by Corel has become my favorite to work with as it most accurately mimics real life artist's media.

My most recent digital works explore the colors, patterns and deeper spiritual meanings of mandala art. I love combining my passion for photography and my love of drawing and painting in my digital works.

I have been crafting jewelry for more than 20 years. I find that I am still excited by the process, and feel compelled to continue creating unique jewelry pieces. I have an almost insatiable appetite for learning new techniques of the craft and experimenting with new materials. I like to use both traditional metalworking and contemporary skills in my jewelry designs.

I've recently begun incorporating my mandala art into lovely resin coated pendants.

Oh, yes many people ask me; "What's with the "Z" in Cryztalvisions?"

It's an homage to one of my wonderful childhood teachers who pronounced crystals: "creezzztals"
