Hand Cut Wooden Jigsaw Puzzles

I love giving unique, one-of-a-kind quality gifts for friends and family. While browsing online for an uncommon gift I ran into wooden jigsaw puzzles. I immediately found a photo and ordered the hand cut jigsaw! When I received the intricately hand cut jigsaw puzzle, I was astonished to say the least. I was curious as to how one was made and I immediately began research. I soon saved up enough money to buy my first scroll saw at the age of 17 and I’ve been cutting puzzles ever since!

Many people ask how we got our name. Houston was full of emergency response and recovery vehicles after the destruction of a hurricane. We drove around town numerous hours to witness the damage the hurricane brought to Texas. The simple fact is that it was inspired by a very large dump truck named “Double Trouble.” Yes, that’s right, a dump truck! It hit me, that this would be a catchy name for my puzzles!

Creating hand crafted puzzles is what I love to do! I love cutting intricate, challenging puzzles that others can enjoy. I use color-line cutting, indirectly interlocking edge pieces, deceptive edge and corner pieces, false edge and corner pieces, split knobs, sculpted edges (perimeter puzzle), double-line cutting, and figurals to trick the puzzler. So you're wondering, what are these?

• Color-Line Cutting- cutting along color boundaries so that each piece is a different color.

• Indirectly Interlocking Edge Pieces- Think you can put these puzzles together by solving the perimeter first? This trick forces the assembler to use interior pieces in order to find the correct interlocking edges.

• Deceptive Edge & Corner Pieces- An edge piece that looks like an interior piece because it has a minor straight end that is not an obvious edge piece.

• False Edge & Corner Pieces- pieces that appear to be an edge/corner piece but actually belong in the puzzle interior.

• Split Knobs- Cutting through the middle of a knob to create two puzzle pieces, each with one knob. When the assembler looks for the interlocking two-nobbed piece, they will be stumped!

• Sculpted Edge- Serves the purpose to look more aesthetically appealing, but also to trick the puzzler when assembling perimeter pieces.

• Double-Line Cutting- Stacking two parts of the puzzle to cut one piece. This creates two pieces that are nearly identical and can fit interlock with more than one piece.

• Figurals- A figural is a custom puzzle piece that is meticulously hand cut into your wooden puzzle. They can be years, names, quotes, shapes, etc. (additional cost).
