I'm happy you took a moment to look at my profile. My name is Rose (nickname: DaRosa) and I was born in Holland. I moved to Canada in October 2008 to live with my boyfriend and his two sons. I just packed and crossed the ocean in a heartbeat. In March 2009 our baby boy was born and he has been a great inspiration for my paintings.

Art is something I always enjoyed doing. After years of working in the Satellite Communications business, I decided to give my creative side a chance and became a full time Artist. My focus is Art for the little ones!

I love color and simplicity! I try to make paintings that appeal to babies and little children (and parents ;). Besides decorating a nursery or sprucing up your child’s room, my art will help stimulate your baby’s eyesight.

From the day my baby was born he is mesmerized by my art. At first the black and white zebra’s and slowly he started staring at my other paintings. Now each night we walk the room and look at all the animals before he goes to sleep. He points at frogs, lions and geckos and the best thing of all, no matter how tired he is, he smiles!

The bigger boys are helping me out too. They give advice on what animals are popular and they rate my paintings. On a scale from 1-10 I usually end up with a “one million and 100 and 15”. We paint together and they love to see me work.

I gathered some facts about the development of the newborn’s vision. Besides decorating a room, you can really accelerate your baby’s eyesight!

Did you know…?
--<-@ That newborns can only focus on objects that are within 8-12 inches?
--<-@ That of the five senses (vision, hearing, taste, smell & touch), vision is the least developed at birth?
--<-@ That highly contrasting colors such as black, white and red are the easiest to distinguish for the newborn eyes?
--<-@ That after two months the newborn starts to see bright bold colors?
--<-@ That if you provide visual input, the vision will develop faster? The images should be sharp and clear with crisp edges.
--<-@ That it takes eight months for the baby to complete the visual development? After eight months your baby has good eyesight, when properly stimulated.
--<-@ That visual stimulation enhances concentration and creates curiosity; it will effectively help your baby to focus and see better?
--<-@ Looking at a simple picture allows the newborn’s brain to rest? There is so much going on in their new world, that something simple to concentrate on de-stresses the brain.

A lot of people ask me what --<-@ means. It is my signature on my paintings and is a little rose lying sideways.

It is a privilege to share my work with you and your children!
