DioneYoung's Profile
About
I grew up near Atlanta, Georgia. I’ve been crafting since the young age of 5, when I made a rag doll from my old gown to surprise my mom for Christmas. It had button eyes and arms of rolled fabric. And yes, she did cry.
My mom and grandmother were always sewing. My grandmother’s machine is an old foot-peddled Phaff. As a young child in the 1970’s my grandmother was into macramé, as were virtually all other American women at the time. She made all kinds of things, including a purse she still occasionally uses. I attempted some macramé projects as well, with limited success.
In school I always loved art class, but drawing and painting were my weaker areas, as they still are. My first public display of art was at my kindergarten graduation. I had colored in a life-sized outline of myself. I was so proud of it that I have it to this...
