There were so many opportunities for our paths to cross but it was a chance meeting at an estate sale that brought us together. Both drawn to a full-length Arnold Constable black velvet coat, we realized our love of vintage clothing was just one of the things we had in common.

The daughters of mothers who taught us to sew and knit and treasure antiques, we grew up at flea markets and tag sales. As little girls we wandered the isles of fabric stores running our hands along bolts of satin, silk and organza.

We never met at Douglass College where we both studied business, an appropriate major for young women in the 80's. It never occurred to either of us that our passion for textiles and design could be more than a hobby.

We both worked for big corporations until the births of our third children, both girls. We never met walking the halls of the maternity floor in labor with these girls who were born in the same hospital on the same day within hours of each other.

But when we had coffee after that serendipitous estate sale, we decided it was time to turn our passion into business and Elizabeth Grace Vintage was born. We chose the name to honor all four of our daughters, two who share a birthday and the middle name Elizabeth and the older two who share the middle name Grace.

Our daughters are thrilled with the name we’ve chosen. We’re just plain thrilled!
