Hello World. I'm Jack and I currently live in Chicago where I make vegan products from organic and sustainable sources. I'm working to make my life less plastic and insert my ideals into everything I make from using my trusty solar powered generator to run the mixers and warmers to making my own packaging from re-pulped junk mail and basil, parsley or mint seeds.

One day I'll sell everything in paper made from recycled junk mail and seeds so that everyone can have fresh seasoning. Some gift stores require me to use a visible but protective wrap. So I use Oxo-biodegradable 'plastic' for right now. It's the most compostable solution going beside my seed boxes.

Oxo-biodegradable Shrink Film is formulated to be totally degradable in the environment. At the end of its useful life, it fragments and oxidizes by the effect of light and heat It then becomes assimilable by soil micro-organisms and eventually disappears, leaving only water, carbon dioxide and biomass. Plastic is a by product of an organic compound, crude oil. In the process of making plastic, all nutrients are processed out. But, plastic, by itself is not biodegradable because microbes do not recognize it as a food source. Oxo-biodegradable Shrink Film is a degradable plastic in which the degradation results from the action of naturally occurring microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and algae.

However, many of our customers request no wrapping at all, our 100% Post Consumer Recycled Tissue, or the compostable corn cellulose wrap/bagasse "plastic". The one pictured is the Oxo-biodegradable, though.

Some friends have asked me to sell the gift boxes I make with seeds. We'll see. Maybe one day. For right now, though, I am dedicated to providing a men's line (and some ladies items) that is always a carbon neutral or carbon positive purchase.
