About

I have a passion for creative things and I am fascinated by traditional crafts.
My grandmother taught me embroidery when I was just a little girl and throughout my teenage years I was silk painting a lot. After I passed my final exams in school I picked up embroidery and sewing again. 9 years ago I discovered feltmaking. I enjoy both wet and needle felting. Since I liked to incorporate handspun wool yarn into my felt work I taught myself how to spin in 2005.
For the past 6 years I have been spinning nearly every day. I always have a spindle in my bag when I leave the house and spin whenever I get a spare minute – on the bus, train or plane (a bit difficult while take off due to the shift a gravity, but the face of the stewardess is so worth it), waiting at the dentist … And as a result I often find myself teaching the public about the history of yarn and fabric.

Since 2006 I have been selling my handspun yarn on etsy. FeltStudioUK is now my fulltime job.

Fibres I regularly work with include wool (Merino, Falkland, Shetland, Romney, Corriedale, BFL, Teeswater, Wensleydale, Cotswold…), alpaca, camel, llama, mohair, silk, bamboo, tencel, viscose and sometimes a bit of sparkle (Angelina, trilobal, lurex).
I dye most of the fibres myself. I buy raw fleeces from local farmers and do all the processing by hand as well as industrial processed tops. I also buy fibres from rescue farms because I want to support all the great work they do.
Last year I did a sheep shearing course (organised by the british wool marketing board).
I am a member of the Guild of spinners, weavers and dyers.

My yarn has been published in the following books:
‘Intertwined’ by Lexi Boeger
‘Knit one, embellish two’ by Cosette Cornelius-Bates
‘Simply felt’ by Chrissie Day
