About

Just a bit about Gemsations. I started making jewellery 4 years ago after I gave up my job to look after my husband who was left severely disabled after a stroke. I missed working and communicating with other people. After a year I went on a course to learn silver art clay, which is basically a clay made from recyled silver. After firing with a blow torch or kiln, it turns into fine silver or 999 silver with no impurites. Unlike Sterling silver which is known as 925 because of the amount of copper in it, fine silver does not tarnish. After doing the course I went on to learn silversmithing. I often combine the two materials and also use copper, gemstones, crystals or quality glass beads.
