About

I was 12 when my Stepmother picked up a kit for making Ukrainian-style Easter eggs one spring. She showed me how do the process, and I fell in love with the vibrant colors and intricate, precise designs. As the decades progressed, I've continued honing my craft and creating my own designs in the process. FInally, after 20 years of gifting my family and friends with these products of love and labor, It's clearly time to share with others.

Most chicken eggs start as an ordinary grocery store purchase. I spend hours in the egg section, hunting through every carton picking out the eggs with flawless shells - no weaknesses or minute imperfections that might threaten the integrity of the shell's strength. I spend hours in the egg section, hunting through every carton picking out the eggs with flawless shells - no weaknesses or minute imperfections that might threaten the integrity of the shell's strength. Sometimes I luck out and get some local, free range shells from a friend or farmer.

Once home to my kitchen they are cleaned and painstakingly decorated, free-hand, with pencilled guidelines. The process involves a series of dye baths with melted wax marking each line, loop, or swirl.

Once decorated, each egg is coated with six layers of waterproof varnish to give them a lustrous shine and increased strength.

Finally, I remove the contents through a single hole and clean out the inside of the shell so that you can enjoy and display your treasure for generations without ever having to worry about eggy innards.

Each egg is shipped with a clear lucite display stand. Some already have gold or silver findings glued to the top for hanging display or use as ornaments. If you fancy a pysanka that doesn't already have a finding, just let me know and I'll add one on gratis.
