About

Meet the Artist:

Anyone who knows Hootin' Annies artist-in-chief Emily Franz would tell you that she is as her company name implies "A Hoot." Emily can best be described as a blythe spirit who infuses her sense of whimsey into every pattern she creates.
Born and raised in the Chicagoland area, she now resides in a Chicago suburb with her husband/soul mate, five wonderful children, and her cuddley cats and dogs.
Emily began to show her artistic talent as soon as she was old enough to pick up a pencil. This innate talent led her to study art at Columbia College where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Meet the Artist:

Anyone who knows Hootin' Annies artist-in-chief Emily Franz would tell you that she is as her company name implies "A Hoot." Emily can best be described as a blythe spirit who infuses her sense of whimsey into every pattern she creates.

Emily began to show her artistic talent as soon as she was old enough to pick up a pencil. This innate talent led her to study art at Columbia College where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. After college, she took time out to start her family but always longed for an artistic outlet. One day while perusing the internet she stumbled across some primitive style dolls and instantly knew that doll making was what she needed to do. Since her favorite childhood companions had been Raggedy Ann and Little Orphan Annie they then became the muse for her company name "Hootin' Annies."
Emily is now branching out and beginning to sell her original acrylic paintings. Check often for new originals listed under her new category-PAINTINGS.

Her frequent trips to New York City have also sparked some interesting new ideas which she hopes to implement in the near future.

Emily's fondest wish is that people will see her patterns and want to begin creating dolls themselves. After all she strives to live by the mantra "Follow your bliss!"

"Keep a cloth doll nearby. They have an uncanny ability to make one's heart happy!"---- Emily Franz
