About

I'm a native Californian, born and raised in Los Angeles and have considered myself an artist ever since I was old enough to pick up a crayon.

I started designing jewelry about ten years ago, mostly doing bead-weaving which lead to a lot of peyote work. Now I work mostly with wire, but I will still occasionally be inspired to weave or string.

As an artist, I worked mostly in pencil in my early years, liking the simplicity and portability of it. A lot of that work can be found on my website, at www.ivydionne.com. As I became more proficient on the computer, I began doing illustrations in Photoshop and Illustrator.

While I do enjoy creating this way, I am finding that right now, I want a more natural, organic feel to my art and my digital work just doesn't capture that. I recently turned to watercolor, and am very pleased with the results, though I have to admit, I do struggle with the medium.

My art pendants are a perfect marriage of my creative outlets and have become wearable art. When I paint now, I do it not just with an eye for how it would look framed or matted, but how it would look reduced, hanging from a chain around a neck.

I am currently venturing into PMC (precious metal clay) so stay tuned for an all new line of jewelry!
