I make beautiful barnwood birdhouses in my home in central Virginia. I think of them both as "usable art" and as contemporary folk art. They are all handmade and hand-painted.

My real name is j. hannah. I worked in the name of my clients for many years. In fact, I used to say to them, with a wink, “you get the credit, I get the cash.” Cash came in handy, raising my family, and I give a big thumbs up to all my clients.

However, it means a lot to work now for the first time with the name my mama gave me. It means even more now that she’s gone. I wish she could see what we’re doing here in central Virginia, and, well, maybe she can.
