Jeanie Schlegel Merrick's Profile
Having come from eight generations of jewellers and multi-media artists, a lot of the vintage and antique materials I use in my work is from my own family estate. My ancestors owned and operated a jewelry shop in Brockville, Ontario from 1847-1921. My great grandmother was recycling and remodelling costume jewellery during the Edwardian era, and a great deal of my influences come from that period.
I do not work in one specific category or style, as there are many eras that appeal to me. I make everything from red carpet and bridal couture to Dia de Los Muertos and 1950's to neo-Victorian and steampunk, and am never out of ideas! I also specialize in remodelling vintage costume jewelry and enjoy working with clients to create their own personal vision, even if it is just to replace a stone in a cherished family piece, or fix a broken clasp. Jewelry is my life long PASSION...
