I first learned about basket-making as a child in craft classes at an elementary school in England. There I, together with my twin brother, became so engrossed in making a large basket that the school almost ran out of supplies. In previous years little material was used since no children had taken to the craft.

Prior to retiring from teaching in 1998 I thought about what I could do other than golfing and gardening. I mentioned this childhood craft experiemce to my wife. For Christmas I received a book on basket-making. So this craft-making odyssey began.

I am primarily self-taught and puzzle over the American and English basket making terminology and techniques. When I am on vacation I seek out fellow basket-makers to learn from them. Vermont, New York State, North and South Carolina are a few of the places where I have spent time with basket-makers. In England, Somerset was a dream visiting place.

In 2001 I moved from Red Lake in Northwest Ontario to Ottawa. By 2003 I began to explore various selling venues for my baskets. And in March 2009 I discovered etsy.

As you will see when you explore my etsy store, my baskets combine English and American basket-making traditions. Browse, look and enjoy.
