About

Kara Kidwell Bell has always considered herself addicted to paper. From an early age, she kept every invitation she received in the mail. Her mother would always laugh because immediately after receiving a gift, Kara would write a thank-you note; a past-time she continues to this day. “Even with so many modern means to send electronic messages today, there is absolutely nothing like checking the mail and receiving a hand-written note on beautiful paper. In 2003, Kara started a stationery and invitation store in her hometown of Midland, Texas. During her time there, she developed a passion for quality paper products and a love for letterpress. In 2007 her husband’s work led them to Fort Worth, Texas. Kara continued to “dabble” in paper out of her home. This inspired the launch of Kate Reed Designs, named after her two daughters Emily Kate and Conally Reed.

Kara draws inspiration from a variety of things from nature to vintage wallpaper. The goal of Kate Reed Designs is to provide products that are fun, unique and cannot be found anywhere else. She treats every job with meticulous care and attention.

Kara is based in Fort Worth, Texas, but sneaks away to Park City, Utah any chance she can to snow ski or hike. She lives with her husband Brian, two daughters, and their slew of pets: P2 the old tabby cat, Lollipop the Cavalier King Charles and Sweet-Tart the Bernese Mountain Dog.
