I covered my first lampshade when I was decorating my daughters nursery and ever since I have been obsessed. But I didn't want to just cover them, I wanted to learn how to build them from scratch. Building these lampshades totally satisfies my need to use my hands to make things and my love of fabric. Now I always have a reason to go fabric shopping now!

When I think about how long I've been trying to find cool things to make (out of cheapness or creativeness, I'm not quite sure), I realize that making things is just part of who I am. Although it's a little awkward telling people that I make lamp shades sometimes ("hmmm, that's, uh, interesting..."), I love it. I love looking for new fabrics and thinking of new ideas for shades and pendants, if only there were more hours in the day!
