About

I love creating art of all kinds in my studio and I am especially inspired by my natural surroundings in this remote area of Canada.

I specialize in greeting cards made from handmade paper. I enjoy the entire process of making the cards.

I love scoping out and gathering plant materials around my home in the summer and fall. Then I'll sit on my beach enjoying the scenery or chatting with friends and family while I strip the fibre and prepare it for processing. After the fibres have been processed in an alkali solution and rinsed and separated they are ready to make paper. For my cards, I usually mix the plant fibre with recycled paper which I make into pulp. I also make some of the paper from just the plant fibre to use as accents on the cards and in my mixed media art. The papers retain the earthy aroma and rustic appeal of their natural origins.

All spring and summer and as far into the fall as possible, I gather flowers, leaves and ferns from my yard and garden and press them in preparation for cardmaking. I usually start making my cards in the fall and continue until my materials are exhausted and then it's time to start again.

While handmade paper cards are currently the focus of this on-line business, I will continue to add other products to my Esty shop over time.

I am also a self-taught mixed media and textile artist and a soapmaker. I sell at craft fairs in my region and teach workshops as time allows outside my day job.
