About

Since I was little I have been noodling with all sorts of mediums; when the world didn't deliver what I was looking for, I would conjure up ideas for clothes, artwork and the like until something materialized that suited me. My father was a woodworker/contractor, and my teen years were spent following him around his wood shop, working on my own projects. This had developed my spatial skills and my ability to plan out and execute a task with only few deviations, and to think and troubleshoot on your feet. Perfect for when my mother taught me the ways of the sewing machine.
I generally free-wheel when creating clothes, making the first attempt of a style to fit myself, to "iron out any wrinkles in the plan", then go ahead with a size run from there.

I love stretch-cotton (what I call Jersey knit) t-shirt material. It is comfortable, looks sharp, comes in a fantastic array of colors, and is a joy to work with. Lately I've been experimenting with chainette fringe, making "flapper dresses". Coming soon. :)
I use both overlocking stitch and straight stitch machines, and also have a wonderful older Singer K-series industrial sewing machine that I employ for making dog collars and other heavy-duty projects that may pop up in the shop once in a while.
Besides running a shop on etsy, I am also a full-time student and musician.
You can find my music at www.erinmartell.com, where you can listen for free!
If you dig it, I'm also on iTunes. :)

Check out the shop, and enjoy!
