I always had an interest in sewing, but it took me many years to really figure out that I loved it.
The first thing I ever remember sewing was a telephone shaped pillow in my 7th grade sewing class. I never finished it, because I didn't want to hand-sew the opening shut! (Still hate hand sewing!) I had a little more success with my next project - a gym bag. My mom actually used it for years and years. I was pretty proud of that little nylon bag, the first sewing project I ever completed.
You would think after that, I might be encouraged to sew more, but I wasn't. My mom would sew my Halloween or drama costumes, and I might help out a little, but I had other more pressing interests, I guess.
