I love creating with my hands - knitting, embroidery, felt making, doll making.....but my greatest love is sewing.
My grandmother still treasures a doll's skirt that I made when I was 4. Granted my skills have improved immensely in the intervening years, I find much joy in making doll clothes. The small size means that I can test and try out new ideas.
I prefer to use upcycled fabrics - kilts, skirts, shirts and even interesting table cloths give me so many interesting prints and patterns to work with.
I was introduced to the beautiful simplicity of Waldorf Cloth Dolls when my son started attending a local Waldorf school. I find much to value in the Waldorf tradition of cherishing childhood and nourishing children's imagination with natural playthings.
My ultimate dream is to sew under the Gum Trees using a treadle machine, making hardly any impact on the Earth, but...
