It all started when one day, I ran into the perfect dog. Well, the perfect dog for me!!! I had been looking causually for a dog for a couple of months. I had a wirey haired small pooch in mind. I had visited with many and hadn't found the right match just yet. On this particular Saturday morning, I went out to the local Petco to get some food for my cat and out in the parking lot, they were holding a pet adoption!! There were all sized dogs. There was even a little wired hair terrier. But alas, there was no connection. Then suddenly, I noticed a quiet dog curled up in the back of her crate. She was brindle. Oh, and, she was a pitbull!!! I was instantly drawn to her. I asked if I could take her out and we ended up on a walk around the neighberhood! I fell so hard for her!!! Never in a million years would I have thought that my next dog was going to be a pit! I wasn't even looking for that big of a dog, much or less the breed. But I fell hard and there was no turning back. Four hours later of sitting with her, I finished the paper work and she was to be dropped off the next morning at my place! Yay!

So, she came home to me and we fell harder and harder in love! She definitely had had a very abusive past because she was very apperhensive and fearful of the world. On the other side of the same token, people were scared of her because of what she was. If we approached a group of people, she would be scared of them and they would be scared of her and I was stuck in the middle trying to make everyone feel better about the situation. It was not pretty! So, spring came and flowers bloomed and one day I got a hand full of daisies and weaved them onto her collar! Wow, what a difference a flower makes! All the sudden, she was beautiful and sweet in people's eyes! They would even use the word "puppy" to describe her!!! Loving the effect that this simple adornment had, I tore up an old red leather jacket and made her premanant flowers for her collar! Now we're talking! The response was overwhelming. And it wasn't just towrads her. People also wanted to know where I had gotten the flowered collar! So I started making them for others. And now, viola!!! A store on Etsy!!

It's been so fun making and selling these! I use only 100% organic cotton or hemp webbing. All of my leather is recycled. I buy old leather goods from Goodwill and tear them up and reuse them. Also, as an added joy, 10% of our proceeds go to spaying and neutering homeless animals. And finally, when your furry friend wears one of these collars, they'll make so so so many people smile! Promise!
