Pelangi in the Indonesian language means “Rainbow” and a rainbow of colors and prints is what my cotton batik boxer shorts and children's clothing is all about.

Boxer shorts in the US are so very boring. Bali's batik cotton seemed to be the perfect solution to creating colorful, fun, unique, and distinctive boxer shorts for everyone in the family. Opening this Etsy shop has allowsed me to share them with everyone.

I have been combining the bright contrasting colors and rich patterns of Bali batik cotton fabric for 26 years now and I never get bored doing it. I design all my own childrens' batik fabrics and have them handmade by Javanese batik makers in Bali.

I grew up surrounded by the Amish in Lancaster County PA. In the mid '80s, I began traveling extensively in Europe and eventually to South East Asia. The gorgeous handmade batik textiles I found in that part of the world; their colors, textures and patterns, were so inspiring for me. I began to combine my Art & Graphic Design skills from college, a basic knowledge of Amish patchwork techniques, and this beautiful array of Indonesian fabrics I found into one-of-a-kind pillowcases, bedspreads, wall hangings, quilts, and eventually childrens' clothing and adult boxer shorts.

Batik fabric is irresistible to me. When I go into a fabric store I always gravitate to the batik. The handmade quality of splatters and washes, the unusual patterns, and how the depth of color actually becomes a part of the cotton still amazes after all these years.
