Petal Mix accessories are a modern twist on the Japanese art of tsumami kanzashi. Each petal is hand cut and folded from beautiful silks, imported Japanese textiles, and other high quality fabrics.

The culture of Japan is tied very closely to nature. Maiko (apprentice Geisha) use seasonal kanzashi to adorn their hair, following the natural cycle of the seasons. These are very elaborate works of art that skilled kanzashi artisans have been crafting for generations.

The aspiration of Petal Mix is to create accessories that capture this feeling of season and color and texture, but in a more modern form.

About the person behind Petal Mix:

Hello! My name is Olivia and I am of half Japanese, half English descent. My parents moved to America when I was a small child, but I have retained a love of both sides of my cultural heritage. On my Japanese side, I was drawn to the art of tsumami-kanzashi (among many other things, of course!). And so Petal Mix was born :]
