Lydia Krupinski's Profile

About

My name is Lydia and I am a first generation Polish-American, urban homesteader, animal lover, fabric hoarder, and veggie eater!

My brand Pierogi Picnic sells a little vintage but mostly handmade eco-friendly clothing which I create in my Chicago studio. Sewing has been my passion since adolescence and I indulge this side of my creativity by making unique urban-inspired clothes for women and sometimes men. Everything in my shop is ideal for wearing to a picnic - stylish, comfortable and resilient.

When I'm not at my sewing machine you can find me singing at Harvest, working at The Anti-Cruelty Society, or tending to my beloved rescues.

I am inspired by vibrant colors, fresh designs, and people who dedicate their lives to helping others, animals, and the environment...

RECYCLING TEXTILES:

Each item in my shop is handmade using upcycled, vintage, or reclaimed fabric. Sifting through thrift stores, flea markets, garage sales, and resale shops, I hunt down t-shirts, pillow cases, drapes, fabric scraps, vintage clothing, and more. By salvaging these fabrics Pierogi Picnic is diverting waste that could end up in a landfill. Rather than succumbing to a cradle to grave fate, these materials are given new life by being resurrected into fun urban clothing and accessories.

BUSINESS PRACTICES:

Pierogi Picnic isn’t just about originality and style, it’s also about living consciously. I strive to make every part of my business eco-friendly and cruelty-free. Once you receive an order, you will notice that the packaging is made from upcycled cereal boxes. I attempt to practice good stewardship throughout my business and beyond.

Pierogi Picnic also strives to give back to the community. Be it through volunteering, blogging, or bonding, I try to not just talk the talk, but walk the walk and help others lead more conscientious lifestyles.

It's about fashion with compassion.
