Cathy's Profile

About

My name is Cathy, married 17 years, and my "day job" is full-time mommy to my two daughters, age 4 and 7, and our son born in Feb 2013. Yep, we were married 10 years before having kids...a wonderful, life-altering experience!

I spent most of my career as an engineer and salesperson (I have a bachelors in Chemical Engineering). But my best times at work were spent in a jewelry store and a southwestern-themed gallery before I graduated college.

Since getting married, we have moved around a lot for my husband's job. We have ended up in the Houston, TX area by way of Los Angeles, Cincinnatti, Seattle, Rio de Janiero, Saudi Arabia, Austin, and Paris France. Each of these places has given me an amazing experience that I will always keep with me. But Paris, oh Paris, how I miss it! And I still can't speak French…

I've come to love using vintage components in the jewelry I create. A lot of what I use is new "old" stock which are vintage bits and pieces that have been discovered after being hidden away for quite some time. I love hard-to-find cabochons from the 1920's-1940's, and you will see some in my shop when I can get a hold of these little treasures. I absolutely love searching for the components I use in my jewelry. It's almost as much fun as creating the pieces themselves.

I have a large collection of antique buttons, and I like to make cool, coloful replicas of them out of clay using my own molds. I plan to incorporate some of these into my jewelry in the near future...so keep an eye out ;)

In addition to making jewelry, I am the organizer of a large local moms' group. I also love to travel to far away lands, shop, and most importantly spend lots of time with my family. I feel so blessed to be able to balance all of the things I love!

I am a pround member of The Artisan Group (TAG), a celebrity gifting organization that promotes handmade goods at high profile events like the Oscars, Golden Globes, Primetime Emmys, MTV Movie Awards, and many others. We also submit products to TV show stylists, and TAG also creates fabulous gift bags for individual celebrities, full of beautful items made by TAG members.

(I also hold the user id tenacioustreasury and my old buying account that I no longer use is cholland222...I have to say that per Etsy rules ;)
