Welcome to Quirky Couture!

Quirky Couture serves as an creative outlet for a Fashion Design Student (me!) currently practicing what she learned while studying at the The Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago.

Enough speaking in the 3rd person! On a more personal note: I very much enjoy sewing, knitting, crocheting, tatting or whatever median I can get my hands on to make things to adorn people (and sometimes homes). Being fashionably eclectic (but always stylish) gets you noticed. Wear your OWN personality, not what your told is "in". Own it!

As you have probably already guessed, I'm Quirky (out of the ordinary) and I love Couture (French for "high fashion"). Couture had humble beginnings in the mid 18oo's with a man (Charles Frederick Worth) who started making his clients come to him, instead of merely working as...

Welcome to Quirky Couture!

Couture had humble beginnings in the mid 18oo's with a man (Charles Frederick Worth) who started making his clients come to him, instead of merely working as a tailor for other people. This is Quirky because he was the first of his kind, i.e., the first Couturier. A Quirky Couturier, like myself!

Now I'm not saying I'm a revolutionary person like Charles was, but I see him as a man who had the guts to do what HE saw was possible, so I aim to follow suit. It's possible to make really cute customized clothing for a reasonable cost!

Here you'll find such things like: modernized historic pieces, my translations of "high fashion", SteamPunk themed garb, variations of handmade lace attached to apparel, movies that inspire handbag or satchels, and the occasion painting or pillow to adorn your dwellings. Why not adorn your life with what you like?

Lastly, if you have a variation on a theme you want birthed into the world, let me know and we'll arrange a custom order, just for you!

Enjoy Quirky Couture and thank you for stopping by!!
