I am very proud to be from the creative and culturally diverse city of Melbourne, Australia.

When I was younger I studied art history at university. Then I decided that I was happiest making things, rather than just writing about what other people had already made. These days I work as a freelance illustrator/ designer, and I make things the rest of the time.

When I want something new, I prefer the challenge of making it myself. That might mean knitting, sewing, sawing, stirring or painting... and it's a list that I hope never ends. Handmade things are made with thought and care and deserve to be loved for infinitely longer than a cheap mass produced item bought on a whim.

I find lots of things inspiring. Middle-European folk art and ephemera. Fair Isle and other forms of traditional knitting. Food packaging from different countries, both old and new, especially factory manufactured items with idealised pastoral landscapes on them. Trucks decorated with giant smiling cows or shiny apples. Old creaky ships and boats, blue and white stripes, anchors, old signs, sailors' peacoats. Illustrations by John Tenniel, Edward Lear, Richard Scarry and Maurice Sendak. Certain tiny eighteenth century and French provincial prints. Although I like alot of things already, there is still a huge and exciting world out there to explore!
