I am a dedicated student of the perfect edge; a great deal of my time and energy is used in studying and pursuing the most ideal qualities of the modern knife. This includes, but is not limited to:
Ergonomics- A knife should be well suited not only to its purpose (hunting, fishing, cooking, etc.), but also to its user. The knives that I make fit securely and comfortably in the hand; each angle, curve, bulge, or hollow has been thought out and drafted in advance to increase control and precision, ease fatigue, prevent blisters, and enhance the overall pleasure of using the knife. I envision the knife in its most divine form as an extension of the user's arm and strive to see that my customers also experience this oneness with their purchase.
Durability- The steel must be hard enough to take and hold a razor-sharp edge, yet tough enough to withstand the rigors of every day tool use without cracking, chipping, fatiguing, or significantly dulling. To accomplish this, I use the best steels available with respect to the knife's form and function. I also employ a vacuum-induction/cryogenic heat treating process (unless otherwise specified) that results in a consistently superior temper. My construction methods are implemented with a multi-generational product in mind. These are knives that you can pass on to your grandchildren, and they to theirs, and so on.
Aesthetics- A knife should speak volumes of its user and also its maker. Classy, intelligent, sleek, modern, determined; these are the impressions an observer should be left with. To achieve these themes I employ french curves, hollow grinds, unique blade shapes, and exotic handle materials. Each knife's sheath is also custom made by me to fit perfectly, and compliment the styling of, its treasured cargo.
I also have a fondness for sharing information; the perfect blade cannot be achieved alone and it behooves all students to share what they learn, so if you have a question about how I do what I do, please ask! But, do not be surprised if I have a question or two for you as well.
In addition to knife making I also do some leatherwork: sheathes, belts, holsters, guitar straps, you name it. My other metal art includes hand forged practical and decorative items, and hand-made fishing lures as well. I also enjoy restoring vintage knives and other items, so you may find some of that (as well as knife making supplies) here too.
Like I tell all my customers: Feel free to look around, enjoy yourself, ask questions, make comments, trade jokes, and tell stories. This shop is as much for you as it is for me.
