About

Growing up mostly on a farm in New Hampshire, I learned thriftiness at an early age. I wasn't into the latest fashions or styles, preferring styles that were more classic and with reinforced sewing. I started sewing when I was eight years old with my grandmother. Sewing was not love at first try, but I kept at it and quickly realized that I was able to make clothing for myself that would fit and that I could like better than anything I found in the stores.

Learning to appreciate all of nature through the farm, I went to art school after college and then went a step further to learn to teach art. During all of this I got married and had four children who keep our household "hopping" every day.

Now, my sewing has evolved into being more than just clothing. It has been quilts for the beds, pj's for my kids, and toys. I have a generous mother in law who enjoys visiting auctions and the Salvation Army store. I never know what she is going to send up to the house. This has led me to explore fabrics that I might never have worked with on my own. I am using my grandmothers intuition in my color choices, as well as my formal training at art school. Trying new patterns and making changes to them is fun to me. I hope everyone will enjoy seeing what I am making from all the things "Found in the Attic".
