I started origami when I was about 7-8 years old. I've always been an artist - drawing, painting, photography, sculpting, etc. - and at the time, this was something entirely new. So I picked up a few books, got myself some paper, and folded away!

Over the years, it has become by far one of my favorite forms of art. I work origami into everyday life and real situations as well as traditional decor. I believe that origami can be used in almost any situation or at almost any occasion, and it is my intention to always ensure that I can figure out the means to incorporate this idea into my work.

But it's not just the idea of folding paper that interests me, it's the idea of doing it well. It is very easy to tell the hobbyist from the person who is folding to perfection (though I believe that no matter the quality, everyone should try it at least once!)

I've folded pieces for friends and family in the past (and I am decorating for a wedding next summer). Some days, the folding isn't as great, but those pieces are recycled elsewhere rather than given out. I like to take pride in my work, and knowing that I only offer the best of my own makes my day worth it in the end.

I get asked a lot: "What is a Sleipnir? What does it mean?" All my life, I have been fascinated with mythology. In high school, I started studying Norse Mythology in particular, and it has been my favorite lore ever since. Odin (comparable to Zeus) rides an eight-legged horse named Sleipnir. Sleipnir represents power and strength. For these reasons, I have chosen the name Sleipnir Designs to represent myself and my work.
