Mary Bono's Profile

About

Mary Bono established SnoozeCrafts in 2008. There's never been a time she can remember when she was not in the process of making things--drawings, sculptures, stories, crafts--often at the same time. She has created full-scale wax figures and miniature scenarios. Her ETSY shop offers only some of her craft products: vintage button bracelets and brooches and "bag-bags"--handbags and totes fashioned from ordinary recycled plastic bags. Her 3D illustrations have appeared in medical, music and children's books, on covers and in magazines as well as exhibitions, and have won a number of awards. The process of illustration, with it's specific idea challenges has stretched her imagination and technical skills in directions she might never have otherwise taken.

Her attitude: Just give me a hook, a ball of string, skein of yarn, strip of plastic, spool of elastic; I love to crochet any skinny thing into its own kind of fabric. I love all materials--old buttons for their character, mystery and endless variety, old findings, bits of clocks, shards, scraps...and I love a challenge, whether a new material, technique, tangent.
