About

Originally from the Lot Valley in France, I founded SpinSpanSpun in 2009 in Chicago, Illinois. I am a happy new wed, a brand new mum and I decided to quit my day job in Chicago to take care of my baby closer to my family : so, I moved back to France for a while. Not for long ! I'm a globe-trotter at heart.

I have many dreams but here is how the Etsy story began...

In my family, my grand-mothers knit, but I was not raised in a crafty atmosphere. I felt I was not able to do nice things with my hands, even if it was wrong !

There were also a lot of prejudice regarding women crafts around me : my ex-boyfriend even forbade me to do embrodery in front of him...

But in spring 2008, I decided to make my own clothes… a couple of weeks later, the spring-summer collection was finished and I decided to look for the Fall-winter perfect look ! It was handknit…
I was then living in Paris, and by chance, I met an amazing woman who owns La Gare des Boutons, a tiny yarn shop in the 11th district, rue St Ambroise. She taught me the basics : I was hooked!
I had not forgotten sewing and was planning to go to school to learn the proper way... but then I found a job in Chicago. I kept knitting and met Bykes, who has an Etsy shop, at YarnCon in october 2008. I loved her handspun yarn and got obsessed!
But the Wheel was frightening !!!! Fortunately, I met Vera Videnovich (she also has a shop on Etsy) and here I am since february 2009 !

I am very happy to present to you my unique fibers and yarns. They are mostly hand-dyed and painted by me. Then, I spin them on my Majacraft Little Gem.

Because I just love natural and organic yarn, I have always have some available and can offer longer yardages upon request.
