Hi and welcome to my shop - I'm so glad you're here! I'm a wife & mom to one homeschooling girl and absolutely in love with fiber!

Springtree Road is the name of the street where my grandparents lived. I spent a lot of time there as a kid and 98% of my dreams take place or end up there, even today. To me, it represents love, security, happiness, and family, so that's the name I gave my blog when I started it in January 2008. It was a natural extension to give the name to my Etsy shop...

It was a natural extension to give the name to my Etsy shop.

I've always loved to take pictures, but it wasn't until my daughter was born in 2005 that I really got serious about learning photography. My favorite subjects are old and/or abandoned buildings and houses and the common everyday things I see around me - the things that make up a life. While I am in love with my Nikon dSLR, I have a special place in my heart for vintage/toy cameras and film too and I'm planning to play with some of those more often in the coming year.

When I was 16, my Irish grandmother taught me to cast on, knit and purl. So I'd knit and knit but I never actually made anything someone would want to wear. Occasionally I'd just make sure I remembered how to do those things, but in 2008 I decided I wanted to try following a pattern so I knit a simple seed stitch scarf for my daughter. It was lots of fun! I started going to my local yarn shop and enjoying the variety of fiber there.

Last year, I decided that I had to learn to spin. The idea of taking something so simple as wool and turning it into something so beautiful as a handspun skein of yarn was too tantalizing to resist. So I bought a second-hand wheel and 3lbs. of wool and set out to learn the mysteries of handspinning.

I still have a lot to learn (one of the things I love about spinning - you will never know it all), but I'm working on it everyday. Life is good.
