My items are handcrafted using new, recycled, repurposed and antique items. My designs are inspired by turn of the century steam fashion.

This past winter I became inspired by some doll heads that had been exhumed from a German factory dig in Thuringia. During World War II the East German doll factories were bombed heavily and to this day scavengers are still digging up doll parts out of the ground.

I purchased the heads and created four beautiful, one of a kind necklaces using the heads, other dug doll parts, Swarovski crystal, fresh water pearls and jewelry findings.

About

My items are handcrafted using new, recycled, repurposed and antique items. My designs are inspired by turn of the century steam fashion.

This past winter I became inspired by some doll heads that had been exhumed from a German factory dig in Thuringia. During World War II the East German doll factories were bombed heavily and to this day scavengers are still digging up doll parts out of the ground.

I purchased the heads and created four beautiful, one of a kind necklaces using the heads, other dug doll parts, Swarovski crystal, fresh water pearls and jewelry findings.

I gave three of the necklaces away to friends who had participated in a Facebook crafty pay it forward post. Kind of like a chain letter for crafting, very cool.

The pieces were haunting and beautiful and I really loved the way they turned out.

Thus the concept for Sugardolly Dry Goods was born. I have a background in costume design and construction. My mother was a semi-professional seamstress and I grew up in a house filled with costumes and sewing strewn about the dining and living rooms to outfit several community theaters in New Jersey. While in college I worked at the theater costuming shop of the University of Vermont under master costumers.

I have created many costumes for theatrical and dance endeavors over the years for myself and others. I recently submitted some of my work to a local gallery and presented three designs in an opening night gala fashion show.

I hope to continue to create and expand Sugardolly Dry Goods, taking my inspirations from the steam era, and the wonderful things that I find to create with.
