I began my career in textile design at the University of East Carolina in 1989. It was a very exciting and thorough program that included such classes as contemporary embroidery, beading, batik, silk screening, loom and off loom weaving, jewelry, wood design, and so much more. I graduated with my BFA in textile design with my concentration on fabric design and weaving in 1994. Most people find this humorous thinking there is no such area, but I am proof that it's true. After graduation, I moved to the Outer Banks to become an official beach bum. I jump started myself back into art by hand painting ties for my husband. I moved into scarves and other silks. When I had my children, I changed my focus to painting clothes for them. The designs are fun and I loved doing my own dye work. They finally came to a conclusion that they were tired of being my models and revolted. That sort of took the fun out that. I wanted to continue being creative, but couldn't decide what direction to go. I had taken classes in jewelry design in college and thought hmm..... Now a new beginning to Twink Ink Designs begins for 2010. I can't decide what I enjoy more- creating or collecting beads and findings. I am so thrilled to have found another passion. (Although my husband is not.) Please enjoy looking through the store. If you have questions, please let me know.
