I have loved art all my life. I can remember watching my uncle, who lived next store from us in Brooklyn, paint. He taught me many things before he passed away, too young. I remember my mother teaching me to knit when I was about five. I remember having a small purple mesh bag with knitting needles and wool, and my friends making fun of me for sitting on the stoop knitting instead of playing. The best outings I can remember were trips to Art Cove, and coming home with paints and brushes, and a new art book.

So .... the name... Virtuosity. In finding a name for my shop I wanted something that would cover the many materials I work in, not just knitting or clay work. I also paint murals and do faux finishing, so if you live near Carmel, New York, contact me! In reading an essay about gymnastics, virtuosity was defined as performing the common uncommonly well. In the dictionary you might find it to be the enjoyment of fine art objects, artistic, great technical skill as in the practice of fine art. Virtuosity is elusive - it can be considered the mark of true mastery, genius and beauty. I could never profess myself to be a virtuosa, but with every piece of art I create, I hope to be closer to that goal.
