I began my illustrious art career early in life, winning my first Major Award for a “Patch the Pony says Don’t Go With Strangers” safety awareness poster- beating out all the other fourth graders at Flora List Elementary. The grand prize: a coupon for a Free Small Fries at McDonald’s! I honed my skills by sweeping the fine arts category at the county fair, before hitting the big-time when a collage I created from construction paper placed first in the state in the 1983 National Elmer’s Glue Contest.
At age seventeen I moved to Beautiful Downtown Detroit to attend the College for Creative Studies.
