"A True Islander"
Born and raised on the island of Manhattan, I am first generation Cuban-American, my parents being from the isle of Cuba. I was influenced by a combination of American and Latino culture, which is noted in my works by the juxtaposition of bright colors and story-telling shapes.
As a young girl, I was exposed to a country lifestyle in Pennsylvania, which sparked my enthusiasm about the natural environment and caring for the conservation of our wildlife.
On one of my travels I visited Charleston, S.C. and was immediately attracted to its beauty, charm and wildlife. I decided to make it my home and now reside on another island, Johns Island in South Carolina.
