Cyndle Plaisted Rials' Profile

About

My shop name is a tribute to my creative genes--my grandmother's maiden name is Frost. Her father was a wood worker, her mother a seamstress and knitter, and she is a watercolorist, a silversmith, and a leather worker. It doesn't skip a generation with my mother, who is a painter, jewelry designer, and ceramic artist, and although she barely touches the sewing machine now, she once made almost all of my clothes.

So I come by crafting through genes and natural curiosity. My mother taught me to crochet when I was 12 or so, but it just didn't click then. I picked it up again a few years ago, and I've now got multiple projects going on at any given time. My mother also taught me to sew, and the basics of wire work. I taught myself to knit, to felt, and beading and embroidery, through copious amounts of research and reading…

I am a reader and a writer--I completed my MFA in Poetry in July 2008 and I endeavor, among other things, to become published. Basically I have a lot going on these days, but this busy-ness is actually the best antidote to procrastination (of which I have been guilty on more than one occasion.

I am inspired by the mysticality and magic of fairy tales, punk/indie music culture, the iconic beauty of legendary women, real or imagined, and the trappings of many eras gone by.
I have what I would classify as fashion ADD; I love the ornamented and flowery designs of bohemian style, the clean lines and graphic details of mod fashion, and the dark and romantic elements of steampunk and goth (not to mention many many others). At any given time, items in my shop will reflect this!

All of my products are my own design--I would say it's just as much because I hate following patterns as any other reason! I also make all of my ceramic buttons and copper pins.

Unless otherwise specified, all items are complete and ready to ship. If you see something you like, but it isn't quite right for you, convo me and I'd be happy to do a custom item to your specifications! For custom ordering and shipping info, please see my shop policies.
