Carol Collier's Profile
I get inspired by something – a painting, a story, a day on the coast - then I distill it into line patterns and then rebuild it, choosing each piece of fabric to enrich both color and design. Each project turns into a little technicolor dream.
I have always been a designer. I learned to sew growing up, alongside my Mom and her sisters, quilting and doing needlework. I crocheted capes for my stuffed animals. I studied Biology, but continued to pursue art, and studied Architecture, but continued to hike and garden.
My dog hangs out with me in the studio, so I can't guarantee anything I make is dog-hair free. He has dropped his bone in my fabric box, so it's probably not even vegan. But neither of us smoke.
So here we are. Textile art.
