Hi, I'm Lauren! (aka, betty) Thanks for stopping by. I like to find pretty fabrics, combine them with the finest Kona cotton and sew unique products for YOU!

My shop name originally came from a design project I did in school- an indie fashion e-zine entitled "Betty." (Betty being slang for girl or woman, check the urban dictionary definition here: see #1, 2, 3 http://betty.urbanup.com/1922052)

Then I found out that Lauren Bacall, my namesake, was born as Betty Joan Perske. I like to think we traded stage names :) (Lauren Bacall is an actress, was married to Humphrey Bogart and was in movies such as To Have and Have Not, 1944 and The Big Sleep, 1946)

I initially joined Etsy in November of 2008 and officially opened for business on January 31, 2010. It's been a long time coming, folks!

I am a full time graphic designer at a local university and work with clever betty in my spare time. When there's still time to spare after all that, I like to be outdoors, spending time with friends and family, watching Lost, playing with my kitties Nelson and Greta, and traveling as often as possible.
