Debbie Geistweidt's Profile
Hi, I am a fiber artist living on a ranch in the Texas Hill Country. I make pictures with fabric, thread and paint. My inspiration is right outside my door: live oak and mesquite trees, cactus, bluebonnets, rocks. All of my work is based on my original photography, my imagination or looking outside my windows. I live with my husband on a ranch which has been expanded by three generations of his family.
To construct my images, I chop fabric into small pieces and layer it onto a batting, cover with tulle and then stitch it all together! The fabric becomes my paint and the stitching my paint brush. I have been complimented when people say my style is Impressionistic. Those impressionist painters have had an impact on my like. I remember the first art appreciation class and how my heart soared when seeing all those colors, light and texture. I strive to recapture this feeling in my own work...
