About

As a young girl sitting at the breakfast table, I would imagine that not only was I feeding myself, but thousands of little people who lived inside me—miniature people who were responsible for keeping my body going. As I got older I became fascinated with animal anatomy. I found it interesting (still do) that varying species are so different and yet so similar, with hearts that pump blood, stomachs that digest food, and brains that control movement, thoughts, and desires. Perhaps most importantly, each animal species fights for survival—a sign that there is something that binds us all in common cause: the value and importance of being alive. That is a very big deal. In my art, I attempt to capture—in miniature form—something of that grandness.
