My father, Michael, founded Essential Glass Works in 1992 and I (Heather McCoy) jumped aboard in 2004. He had been teaching stained glass before he discovered the medium of fused dichoric glass so he had mastered the art of cutting glass into tiny pieces. He bestowed this skill to me--and now the two of us work together to cut tiny pieces of dichroic glass and carefully place them with tweezers to create intricate layers and designs. Many people don't realize that one pair of earrings can have anywhere between 8 and 24 pieces of glass, hand-cut, and placed with tweezers. Our sculptures contain too many pieces to count! This may be what ultimately makes us crazy people.
Today we have a working studio and a Gallery featuring our work, and the work of some of our favorite artists. You can visit us on Facebook by searching for Essential Glass Works or for more information visit www...
