MERLO DESIGNS: An Intro
------

Hello and welcome to Merlo Designs! I am very glad you’ve stopped by to see my work. I take most of my inspiration from the world around me and the things in my life. My dad is on the road to Chefdom so a lot of times his cooking will inspire me to create a shoe.

Another one of my biggest inspirations is my education. I studied sculpture at Rhode Island College so a lot of my work is probably best displayed on a bookshelf or something, though I do aim for all my shoes to be worn, some with more care than others. ;)

I have always had an affinity for things out of the ordinary, and that is what I strive for here. If someone sees my work and thinks: “Who would wear that?” I feel I have done my job. I will dabble in simpler, more conventional designs, but there are many artists who could do better with practical footwear than I ever could.

I do custom work and love to save the life of an old, outdated, uninteresting pair of shoes, so if you’ve a pair in need of a new look, and some new life, feel free to contact me and we can work together to get some art for your feet!

Speaking personally, I am a mother first, a wife (to be) second, and an artist third. I enjoy iced chai, makeup artistry, trashy romance novels, sweets, and anime. I dabble in photoshop (my love for the art of type is ever growing), I could sit at a sewing machine for hours, and now that the warm weather is here, I love to walk in the park with my mom.
