My name is Mari Lowery and I'm a photographer and mixed media artist from New York. I have another shop here on Etsy for my photography, but this shop focuses on my mixed media work, more specifically the antique and vintage photos that I have digitally restored and altered in one way or another.

Animals have been a very important part of my life since I was born, so to me it seems natural that I would incorporate them into my work as an artist. I started collecting and altering vintage and antique photos beginning in early 2007, but as I got more involved in photography, most specifically with a film camera called a Holga, I had a lot less time to work on the portraits.

In 2010, I resumed my work with the portraits, and at this point, it's become the focus of my work, more so than photography. I have such an affinity for these old portraits, and while restoring them can be time consuming and sometimes take many many hours, coming up with ideas of how to transform them is a lot of fun.
