Science teacher to glassblower to cross-country skiing racer to new Papa - whatever Todd focuses his energy on, he does so with passion. The physical nature of glassblowing is what attracted him to the art form. From the studio “hot shop” in northern Minnesota – Ely, to be exact - Todd creates colorful, functional glassware.

Todd’s artwork and his process are as functional as possible. He is building a heating system, using water running through copper tubing in the hot shop, to heat a home as well as plans for a green house attached to the studio. To learn more, see www.highstoneglassworks.com

Being a teacher by trade, Todd loves to interact with people who visit his hot shop. He uses “glassblowing” as a metaphor for life: raw sand, when melted and molded becomes beautiful, functional glass - much like each of our lives. We grow, we change, and we should be constantly refining ourselves. Our environment has a lot to do with that shaping process. He does speaking engagements (especially at high schools).
